Background: The hiatus after season 23

LeBron James, 41, a four-time NBA champion, wrote on social media that he felt "finished" when his 23rd season in the NBA ended with an Los Angeles Lakers record.

In July, the decision was cemented with Philadelphia 76ers signing a two-year, $1 million contract.US$ 8 Longtime friendship with All-Star Tyrese Maxey and desire to help Joel Embiid win its first NBA title played an important role in their choice.

James considered it a humble honor to play for the Lakers.[citation needed] He regretted not being able to enjoy a championship stop because of the 2019-19 pandemic.2020 He called Los Angeles home and said that it would be "for the foreseeable future".2014 The eight seasons with the lakers was the longest uninterrupted streak with a single team in his NBA career.

The twist: from "Philadelphia NEM was a question" to the settlement by Jaylen Brown

On the Mind the Game podcast with co-host Steve Nash , which went out on Friday, James revealed details of the free agent market process and what helped the 76ers win the bidding for him.

"I think I'm more passionate about finding out how far I can defy the odds", James said.

Early in the decision, he stated that "Philadelphia NEM was a question". The situation changed until the 76ers struck a surprise deal with the Boston Celtics for Jaylen Brown, NBA champion and MVP of the Finals.

The friendship with Tyrese Maxey as a bridge to the cast

76ers All-Star Tyrese Maxey shares an agent with LeBron James. The two have been friends and training partners since point guard entered the league. This relationship has become a recruiting argument for the NBA's career scoring leader.

"When I became a free agent and we decided to let the Lakers know that I wasn't coming back, he was one of the first people in line calling me", James said about Maxey.

The Joel Embiid factor: 10 years, 12 years and a chance to go beyond the second round

James also said he was intrigued by the idea of helping an often-injured Joel Embiid win its first NBA title.[citation needed] Embiid has won one NBA championship, two basketball titles and an Olympic gold medal but has not yet taken the 76ers beyond the second round of the playoffs since Philadelphia selected him third overall in the 2010 draft.2014

"He did everything in our league, and the only thing he didn't do was win a championship.

He carries a city on his back. he's been "the process" for 10 years, 12 years, as long as he is there. but I think it's time that we take you even deeper into the process. and hopefully I can be, like, that last little piece that can help him get through this obstacle.

The 76ers finished last season 45-37 and were swept in the second round by eventual NBA champion New York Knicks .

Jaylen Brown and the energy of those who act at their own pace

James praised Brown for bringing a strong voice and an energy of his own.

"I think that every time someone acts in his own rhythm, it bothers somebody", he said.

Why not go back to the Lakers, Heat, Cavaliers or Warriors?

The question of why not return to the Lakers, reunite with Miami Heat or Cleveland Cavaliers other teams he has won NBA titles with or stay in California and sign with Golden State Warriors also came up in conversation.

James gave no details on which teams he may have talked to about how close he came to signing with another franchise.

The central motive, he said, was wanting to bring the championship model to Philadelphia and lead the 76ers to their first title since 2004.

"If you still have the opportunity to do what you love, then why just say it's over?" asked James.

The curriculum and the numbers that underpin change

LeBron James' resume is comparable to few in NBA history: 22 times All-Star, 21 time All-NBA, four times MVP , four times of the NBA Finals, three times of all-star game and a member of the 75th anniversary team.

He arrives at the 76ers after a season with averages of 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game.

New moves: Camden press day and training camp next week.

James is scheduled to meet with reporters for the first time as a 76ers player on Monday during the team's press day in Camden, New Jersey.
