Context: Eight years at Fenerbahce and the bridge with management

After an eight-year stint with Fenerbahce of Turkey, the 25-year-old winger is now on the other side of ATL and Biberovic has spoken openly about his role and what he hopes to bring to the team in the upcoming NBA regular season.2026227.

The move to Texas was facilitated by a long-standing relationship with an important piece of the Mavericks board. He cited general manager Mike Schmitz as one of the main reasons he felt comfortable about making the jump to North America.

"I've known Mike Schmitz since I was very young because he is one of the best people to watch players", Biberovic explained. "He knows everything about European players, so it was kind of a comfort zone that we had. When the Mavericks got my rights, I talked with Masai Ujiri and Mike Schmittz. We were on the same page".

The former Euroleague champion also recalled that this moment represented the realization of an old goal.

"My dream has always been to commit to the NBA, and Dallas Mavericks 's organization approached me and gave me that chance", he added.

Development: Friday, press day speech and the launching pad

Biberovic made his first official appearance with Dallas Mavericks on Friday during the pre-season press day. When asked to describe his game for fans who may not have followed him abroad, he was direct.

"Well, I'm a right-handed pitcher", he replied.

The speech made clear the fit that the team is looking for: a perimeter player able to open up the court and turn presence on offense into an advantage.

Closer to the cast: A month in Dallas, European influence and pre-season schedule

Biberovic arrives to a cast with strong international presence. His British teammate Tobi Lawal noted that players from different countries bring a different spice to the way they play and help the group win matches.

Biberovic himself stated that the journey from Europe can contribute to team building.

"I started playing professionally when I was 14, 15 years old. Basically, I played with older players. That leads us to take care of each other, share the ball, understand the basketball system and be there for our teammates. Those things can help an organization, help a team stay on the same page", noted Biberovic.

In addition, the young winger received many encouragements from former NBA players who have now returned to play abroad.

The players who were here, who played in the NBA and are now playing at Euroleague , actually all told me that I should go to the league because plays are basically made for players like me, who can pitch, open court and defend, as well as energy and enthusiasm said Biberovic.

The Mavericks schedule already has cuts in place, with the team scheduled to travel to Macau for two preseason games against Houston Rockets , then return to American Airlines Center to host New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets before opening the regular season in Houston on October 21.

Current stage: adaptation, pre-season in Macau and premiere on October 21
