The NFL, the main American football league in the world, arrives for the first time to Rio de Janeiro for an official confrontation. The duel between Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens, valid for Week 3 of the current season, puts Maracanã as a stage of Rio Game.

The first edition on Brazilian soil took place in 2024, at the NeoQuímica Arena, in São Paulo. On that occasion, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in the opening of the season 2024/25, in which the team won the Super Bowl title.

Friday: Maracanã's profile shows the field ready

This Friday, the official profile of Maracanã in its social networks released images of the grass prepared to receive the confrontation. In the photos, the field is already painted with distance markings and endzones that carry the symbols of the North American teams.

The ioRio Game takes place this Sunday, September 27, at 5:25 pm (Brasil time). It is the first time that the Fluminense capital hosts an NFL game in its history.

Grass under the attention of Brazilian fans

For those who follow the day-to-day of carioca football, Maracanã's pitch has been the subject of many complaints in recent matches by Flamengo and Fluminense, teams that play at the stadium.
