Before the ball: The NFL in Brazil and Rio's choice
The arrival of the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys to Brazil marks a chapter in the NFL's international agenda. The league treats the country as a priority and has chosen Rio de Janeiro as the venue for the match, with Maracanã at the center of the narrative.
The Dallas Cowboys are described as the most valuable and popular franchise in the United States.[citation needed] For the Texas team, playing at Maracanã is not routine: the team's first and only regular-season game outside of the U.S. occurred in November 2010, when they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-17 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Dak Prescott is celebrating Brazil as the stage for his international debut.
Arrival in Rio and training at the Urubu Nest
Coach Brian Schottenheimer linked the Cowboys' daily pressure to the charges surrounding Flamengo, a club in Rio de Janeiro where the NFL team trains.
Schottenheimer said that since arriving, he has noticed a structured club with people who watch and look and charge. He described fans who love, care about the team and know what the team is capable of doing.
From the Lawn to the Locker Room: The Cowboys' International Routine
The coach described preparing for an international game as a painstaking process, involving sleep, food and work routines.2014 According to Schottenheimer, these discussions began when the players returned from vacation.2027 He acknowledged that there are challenges in playing a match outside of the United States and stressed the importance of being at the stadium before the game to learn about the locker room, commute to the field, and player behavior at other NFL stadiums.[3]
At the beginning of the week, the American press echoed concerns about the state of the pitch after Flamengo players criticized the conditions on the field. Schottenheimer replied that Maracanã is not a concern and that the team knows how to handle any situation and perform well.
Final stretch: Saturday at the Maracanã and Sunday against Baltimore Ravens
After the news conference, the Cowboys did their first practice at Urubu Nest, the only activity in Flamengo's training center before Sunday's game against Baltimore Ravens at Maracanã.
In the cover visual, the first of two images shows Brian Schottenheimer; the second records training at Urubu's Nest. Both are credited to Pedro Guevara.
The current stage is execution: the team has already passed through Flamengo's CT, closes preparation on Saturday at Maracanã and enters Sunday's game with the narrative of pressure, international logistics and the goal of Los Angeles on February 14 2027.
The Commission is also proposing to extend the scope of this directive by introducing a number of new provisions.
