Betting restriction: what to do if you have a balance in bookmakers
MP prohibits new online betting in Brazil, affects fans and clubs, and keeps balances indefinite until regulation and processing in Congress.

Provisional measure signed on the 25th bans online betting houses in Brazil
Before the announcement: gambling has become also talk about betting
In recent years, this conversation has gained a digital layer: online betting houses have begun to occupy space in feeds, broadcasts and comments, transforming bids and results into triggers for bets.
25: signed in São Paulo and effective immediately
At an event in São Paulo, the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) formalized today (25) the signing of a provisional measure that prohibits online betting houses from operating in Brazil.
What changes to cheerleading, teams and competitions
For the supporter, the separation between following the game and betting becomes more rigid. The focus returns to team performance, coach reading, goal and match context. For clubs and competitions, the measure reduces the direct presence of online bookmakers in the sports environment, although the published text does not detail deadlines, transitions, balance treatment or rules for bets already made.
Next step: enforcement and processing
As a provisional measure, the rule is valid since publication, but depends on processing in the National Congress to be converted into law. The current stage is in force of the MP, with expectation of regulation, supervision and definition of the legislative destination of the ban.
