OPINION: As there is no suitable replacement, the Seleção Brasileira needs to retire shirt 10 urgently
Columnist advocates retiring the National Team jersey 10 after the World Cup and the draw with Australia, criticizing Ancelotti's quartet and the lack of an attacking midfielder .
Context: The 10th shirt under debate after the World Cup
Paulo Cobos, a columnist for ESPN.combr argues that Seleção Brasileira should at least temporarily retire the number 10 shirt if there is no one who deserves to wear it.
The match: first friendly after the Cup and draw 1 to 1
In the first friendly after the failure in the Cup, coach Carlo Ancelotti again insisted on a scheme with four strikers of very similar characteristics.
For the analysis, Brazil does not have today an attacking midfielder who thinks of the game and is the maestro, a function that practically all major selections have. The column still criticizes the maintenance of the four attackers, even in the absence of an organizer.
The rotation of the shirt 10: Vini Jr., Neymar and Raphinha
The column also deals with the recent history of Brazilian football's most iconic number. Before the World Cup, Vini Jr was given the number 10, a decision considered "nothing brilliant" by the text.
For the columnist, Neymar has passed. The opinion is that to insist that Vini Jr. or Raphinha wear 10 in the national team would be an unnecessary pressure since both have already demonstrated feeling the weight of the selection shirt.
