The 10th stage of the Stock Car Pro, held at Autódromo Internacional Zilmar Beux in Cascavel, put to the test the young Alfredinho Ibiapina.The 18-year-old Paranaense, based in Florianópolis and factory driver for Toyota by Full Time Gazoo Racing, left the weekend with a positive data: seven positions won in Saturday's Sprint race (17).
Friday: collision at the tire barrier
The performance came after a rough start. During practice on Friday, a collision against the tyre barrier required the team to work counter-clockwise to recover the car and get it back on track.
In qualifying, Alfredinho reported that the team started competitive, but did not find the ideal fit with the new tires and was in the first phase, below expectations.
Saturday (17): recovery in the Sprint and strong pace
With the grid in 21st position, Alfredinho started from 21st place and advanced to 14th at the finish, gaining seven positions.
The reaction at the Sprint showed the car's potential and boosted my confidence to fight for positions, said Alfredinho.
Sunday (18): stone in the radiator interrupts the main race
In Sunday's main race (18), after starting 17th, Alfredinho again showed competitiveness and advanced to 14th place.
"In the main race, we had been maintaining a consistent pace but a stone punctured the radiator. The water leak caused overheating of the engine and I had to abandon. We left without the result that we were looking for, but with positive signs of competitiveness. We continue working to turn this speed into better results", added Alfredinho.
What 's left of the weekend
For the crowd that accompanies the driver, Saturday left signs of competitiveness, with the second best lap of the race and the recovery of seven positions. Sunday brought the technical alert: without the problem in the radiator, the consistent pace indicated that Alfredinho could seek a better result.
