In the early hours of this Sunday (4), Formula 1 contested the Bahrain GP, won by Max Verstappen. The result, however, was not restricted to first place: Gabriel Bortoleto had hopes of scoring again, but an incident with Carlos Sainz, Audi driver, took away the chance for both to finish the race among the scorers.

Bortoleto started the race in 10th, a position that gave him a realistic window to score points. The situation changed after a safety car caused by Sérgio Perez.
Touch drops Bortoleto to 18th and Sainz to 17th
The contact dropped Bortoleto to 18th, while Sainz was 17th. From that point onwards the two struggled to rebuild their races and the direct battle for points became more difficult.

In the interview after the race, Bortoleto regretted the missed opportunity but acknowledged the mistake. He said that at first he reacted as if Sainz had closed him; later on reviewing the scene, he admitted to braking the wheels. According to the Brazilian, Sainz opened up a lot in turn 1 and returned to turn 2, leaving a door ahead.
Bortoleto also reported problems at the end of the race, as he had to stop for a change of front wing and stopped using straight-wing mode in the last 15 laps due to an issue that increased uncertainty about his ability to keep up with the drivers ahead.
Sainz regrets missing his first chance to finish in the top ten .
The Audi driver stated that the weekend was coming very well until the contact with Bortoleto, that the pace wasn't bad and that the choices made so far were correct. He classified Bortoletto's attitude as a bit too optimistic, recalled that the Brazilian apologized and said that although the apology existed, the pitch cost him the chance to score.
Next stop is Singapore, with Antonelli in the lead.
Formula 1 returns to the track on October 11 at the Singapore Grand Prix, held at the Marina Bay circuit.
