A study by CIES Football Observatory highlighted the market value of players from seven Brazilian clubs: It is also important to note that the Commission's proposal for a regulation lays down specific rules on the application of Article 85 (3) (a) and (b) of the Treaty.The survey, produced by the observatory linked to the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is one of the most cited references when it comes to economic evaluation of clubs around the world.

Why this study matters

Unlike rankings based only on recent results, CIES works with an estimate of the market value of athletes, taking into account variables such as age, contract, performance and recent trajectory.
