Após uma temporada de destaque na carreira, Maxey quer ser avaliado pelo sucesso dos 76ers.

Camden, New Jersey September 30, 2026 at 4:14 p.m., eastern daylight time

Philadelphia 76ers point guard Tyrese Maxey, 25, has two All-Star appearances in the past three seasons and is coming off a season with career averages of 28.3 points per game.

The first voice of the star quartet

Maxey was the first of the team's four big names Joel Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and LeBron James to speak with reporters since pre-season began on Tuesday.

Maxey followed the same spirit, but with much more detail. He said that his ability to fill different roles can be positive for himself and the team.

"I'm at the point where I have already shown what I can do in terms of talent. Of course, I will continue to improve, but I want to be judged by victories. If we win, that's why I would like to be evaluated. That is my main mentality, my main goal: find ways to win", he said.

The shipowner explained that he had played many different roles and that this could help the cast.

Because I've played so many different roles, I can do a lot of different things. And I think that will be good for me and the team.

I'm gonna play the way they need me to, like Coach Nick Nurse wants me to.

Voice, charisma and home time

Maxey also said that he's not just leading by example and has been speaking out as the new group begins to take shape.

My voice is a little heavy, and then there's the charisma of me smiling and having fun. I mean, I'm getting older... and I feel like I've been here for a while. Process [Embiid] has been here, I think, 13 years?

Cheers to LeBron, Embiid and Brown.

In addition to saying he's willing to accept any role changes that are requested, Maxey used the word in praise of his teammates.

About LeBron James, he's like an older brother to me.

About Joel Embiid: "He looks amazing. He seems happy. When you're healthy, happy and at peace with life and basketball, that's when you are at your best. He has been great".

About Jaylen Brown: "He's physically a freak of nature. He's stronger than you are, he jumps taller than you, he's faster than you and he is very talented. These are things that you see every day. And I think what struck me most so far was his communication and willingness to take the ball on defense, basically doing whatever coach needs for now".

Brown, the new house and Boston memorabilia

Brown was the last player to leave the court after practice, working out how to deal with double-tap scores opening passes for a pitcher or using a falling throw back at the baseline with a large Sixers symbol on the training center wall behind him.

Maxey also acknowledged Brown's transition, as he begins a new routine at the Sixers after spending his entire career with the Boston Celtics before being traded within the Atlantic Division in July.

Imagine being in one place for 10 years and coming here, to a team that you probably learn to hate. It's been great, especially because we just beat Boston in the playoffs.

What the moment says to the team and the fans

In the current stage of pre-season, Maxey's message is one of alignment. By saying that he accepts any role and wants to be evaluated by wins, the owner offers coach Nick Nurse a way to adjust the roster without turning the arrival of other stars into competition for hierarchy. For the fans, the expectation is that the team will no longer be judged solely on individual talent but will now be charged for what they produce on court.
