Suns hire Duop Reath, Kennedy Chandler and Phillip Wheeler; release John Camden, Corey Camper Jr. and Sam Hoiberg
Phoenix Suns signs Reath, Chandler and Wheeler for Exhibit 10 and cuts off Camden, Camper and Hoiberg; Reath can take advantage of Williams' injury.

Context: pre-season and the logic of Exhibit 10
The team signed center Duop Reath, point guard Kennedy Chandler and winger Phillip Wheeler through Exhibit 10 contracts.[citation needed] To make room for these three signings, the Suns waived John Camden, Corey Camper Jr., and Sam Hoiberg.
In general, Exhibit 10 is used for athletes who show up to the training camp and can compete for a spot on the roster ofNBA or be forwarded to G League.
Development: Mark Williams' injury has opened the door for Duop Reath
Reath may have a shot at earning a roster spot due to the injury sustained by center 's Mark Williams.[citation needed] Even so, Phoenix would need to create a regular-season roster vacancy in order to retain Reath.[6] The 6-foot-9 forward played 32 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in mid-January.[7]
The reading for the team is straightforward: Williams' absence creates context, but the vacancy does not come automatically and depends on opening space in the cast.
Development: Kennedy Chandler between G League and NBA
Chandler spent most of last season with the G League's Delaware Blue Coats. In two 10-day deals with Utah Jazz , the 6-foot- point guard averaged 15 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists in 11 games for them.NBA
If Phoenix needs reinforcement on the perimeter, Chandler arrives at training camp as a candidate to be evaluated, with the G League as a possible natural destination.
Developed by Phillip Wheeler and game volume in the G League
Wheeler played 46 games in the G League for the Osceola Magic last season.
The volume of games indicates that Wheeler had a following in the G League. For Phoenix, he appears as a cast piece with offensive production and rebounding but still without a guaranteed spot in the league.NBA
Current scene: Valley Suns, G League and the Reath window
Chandler, Wheeler, Camden, Camper and Hoiberg are expected to join the Valley Suns for next season's G League.
At the moment, it's pre-season: Phoenix has signed three Exhibit 10 contracts and all other names in the waiver pool are on their way to the Valley Suns.
